Your Madrid Flatshare Right Next to the Nature
If you love living in the city, but you also like to rest and relax connecting with nature this is the perfect spot for you! Just 10 minutes away from this Madrid Flatshare you will find El Retiro, the biggest and most famous park of Madrid. It has 1.180.000 m², 15.000 trees and is open for the public since 1767. Here you will never be bored. The park has many monuments and gardens where you can enjoy a sunny afternoon doing different activities or just resting with your favourite book. If you like to exercise, this is a great space for rollerblading, jogging or for taking a long walk. But if you’re more of a chill person, you can rent a rowing boat and navigate the artificial lake located in the heart of the park. Did you know the air is 50% cleaner in El Retiro than in the rest of the city? Come and clean your lungs here!
If you like art you can visit the impressive Glass Palace and the Velázquez Palace, both located inside the park. They were built by the architect Ricardo Velázquez Bosco in the same decade. The first one is a massive iron-glass pavilion built in 1887. It was originally intended to be a greenhouse to contain tropical plants, but today it is used for art exhibitions. And the second one was built between 1881 and 1883 and is also used as a gallery for temporary exhibitions of the Reina Sofía Museum. Also, just outside of the park you can find the Prado Museum where you can appreciate some of the most famous paintings of El Greco, Goya and Velázquez for free every day from 18:00 to 20:00.
